Canaccord's Morning Coffee

Morning Coffee, Canaccord Capital (01/22/2010)

"Eastmain Resources bucked the negative storm blowing through the broader markets Thursday, jumping after announcing assay data from the last 16 drill holes of 2009 and additional metallurgical test results from its Eau Claire Gold Deposit, located in James Bay, Québec. Highlights included assays up to 12.07 g/t Au over 5.5 meters and metallurgy of 95.7 to 98.8% gold recoveries. A total of 21,276 meters (68 HQ drill holes) were drilled in 2009 to expand the Eau Claire gold resource within the upper 300 meters. The company highlights that over the last two years more than 25% of all vein intercepts drilled contain over one ounce gold per ton. Furthermore, 70% of all gold-enriched vein and schist material intersected at Eau Claire within this period contains one-half (0.50) ounce gold per ton over an average thickness of 1.34 meters. Of interest, the most recent resource estimate for the Eau Claire gold deposit, completed in 2005, was based on 182 gold-bearing vein intercepts. Management stated that drilling over the past two years has intersected 500 gold-bearing veins at a significantly higher grade than the previous estimate, within the upper 1/3 of the deposit. A substantial number of the current drill intercepts are from the T-Vein group, which is located north of the previous resource limits."

"Eastmain increases resources with new James Bay Property"

AREA COULD BECOME MAJOR GOLD CAMP
"Partners target Éléonore South anomaly."

Goldcorp (G-T, GG-N), Eastmain Resources (ER-TO - News), and Azimut Exploration (AZM-V, AZMTF-O) have signed a letter of intent to jointly explore a promising gold-and-arsenic-in-soil anomaly that straddles the Éléonore claim block and adjacent Azimut C block in the James Bay region of Quebec.

The plan calls for Goldcorp to chip in 43 sq. km of land at the southern end of the recently aquired Éléonore property, along with the 18-sq-km Éléonore South B block, about 2 km to the east. Azimut will contribute its 87-sq.-km C block to the new Éléonore South property.

Under a deal inked in early 2005, Eastmain can acquire up to a 65% stake in the Azimut C block by paying $160,000 in cash, issuing 30,000 shares and spending $2.7 million on exploration over 5 years. It must also deliver a bankable feasibility study.
"Éléonore area heats up!"

Spurred by Goldcorp's (G-T, GG-N) recent vote of confidence, exploration is heating up around Virginia Gold Mines' (VIA-T) Éléonore gold discovery in the James Bay region of Quebec.

In mid-December, Goldcorp inked a definitive deal to acquire Virginia via an all-stock deal worth more than $500 million. Soon thereafter, Goldcorp picked up a 9.9% stake in neighbour Beaufield Consolidated Resources (BFD-V, BCRSF-O) for $3.4 million.

Partners Azimut Exploration (AZM-V) and Everton Resources (EVR-V) are active on four blocks, totalling 321 sq. km, immediately surrounding Éléonore. Some 286 lake-bottom-sediment samples have outlined 6 areas containing anomalous values of gold, silver, arsenic and antimony. Each measures at least 1 km.
