More Assays Confirm Discovery Potential at JT Target
October 25 2007
Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX - ER) is pleased to announce additional assay results from the JT Gold
Target area at the Éléonore South project, its JV option with Les Mines Opinaca Ltée, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Goldcorp Inc. (TSX: G, NYSE: GG) and Azimut Exploration Inc. (TSX Venture: AZM).
Additional channel samples in the JT Target area taken by Eastmain, the project operator, have
confirmed a large sedimentary gold zone with significant discovery potential. The JT Target covers an
area 300 metres wide by 600 metres long consisting of sedimentary rocks highly enriched in gold.
Eastmain interprets the JT target area as geologically and mineralogically comparable to the setting at
Goldcorp’s nearby Roberto gold deposit.
783 channel samples received to date are from the JT Target Area. One-third of these samples are
enriched in gold. As reported in a previous news release (Aug. 30, 2007), a section of the JT Target
containing visible gold, referred to as the VG Zone, has been traced in outcrop for a length of 11 metres
in Trench ELS-07-1E3. Wide intervals of gold-bearing, siliceous, sedimentary rock containing
disseminated arsenopyrite, flanking the VG Zone, include assays of 5.33 g/t Au across 8 metres and 10.9
g/t Au over three metres.
JT Target Area (783 one-metre channel samples; 7 trenches)
- 33% of all samples are enriched in gold, indicating a potential ore-forming system in the vicinity;
- 108 channel samples range from 0.5 g/t Au to 37.8 g/t Au;
- 54 channel samples contain more than 1.0 g/t Au;
- 3 channel samples contain over 20 g/t Au;
- The VG Zone includes one-metre assays of 37.8 g/t Au, 31.2 g/t Au and 5.33 g/t Au over 8
metres;
- The area flanking the VG zone assayed up to 10.9 g/t Au over 3 metres, including a one-metre
sample at 22.9 g/t gold;
- Multiple assay intervals range from 0.79 g/t Au across 5 metres to 1.27 g/t Au over 10 metres.
Thirty-five trenches, based on coincident geochemical, geophysical and/or geologic targets, within the 10-
kilometre-long gold-in-soil anomaly outlined in 2006, have been excavated for a combined length of
5,063 metres. From this, approximately 4,183 metre-long channel samples were collected. Assay results
for 1,648 one-metre-long channel samples have been received to date and results from over 2,000
additional channel samples are pending.
During the 2006-2007 field season, 194 line kilometres of Gradient IP (Induced Polarization) surveys,
covering a 12.2-kilometre strike length, were completed across sedimentary rock formations coincident
with the property-wide, gold-arsenic soil-geochemical trend. 48.5 line kilometres of follow-up detailed
dipole-dipole IP surveys, over 12 target areas outlined by the gradient survey, included the JT Target.
The purpose of the IP surveys was to detect buried metallic sulphide deposits within the sediments. Gold
at the Roberto deposit is accompanied by arsenopyrite, a metallic sulphide. Gold-enriched sediments in
the JT Target area also contain accessory arsenopyrite. Gold and arsenic assay data from the JT Target
confirms the potential for a sedimentary-hosted gold deposit at Éléonore South.
A comprehensive drill program, proposed as the next phase of work, will test the JT Target area and up
to 25 targets elsewhere on the property.
Fieldwork is performed under the supervision of Frank Kendle, P. Geo. This press release was prepared
by geologist Dr. Donald J. Robinson, P. Geo, qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
Rock samples were analyzed by fire assay methods at ALS Chemex Ltd.
The Éléonore South project is located immediately south of Goldcorp's Éléonore project, which includes the
Roberto gold deposit.
Eastmain is a Canadian gold exploration company with 100% ownership of the Eau Claire and Eastmain gold
deposits, located in James Bay, Québec. Eastmain’s Québec project portfolio includes twelve properties covering
over 1200 km2 in the Eastmain/Opinaca gold camp. With the objective of increasing total gold resources and
adding a new discovery, diamond drill programs are planned for the Eau Claire and Eastmain gold deposits as well
as the Éléonore South project in the 2007-2008 season.
